Chapter 8

I totally agree with Savater, the answer is as simple as¨ happiness¨. Anyway as simple as it might seem, it is one of the most difficult things to experience and keep! For not anyone learns to find simple happiness in simple things. Sometimes we, humans chase some objective we think will bring happiness and on the contrary we do not find what we are looking for. It is another skill we learn while living, learning to find happiness everyday in simple things, aware of not beeing extremist with things.

It's a question of trial and error, right? Sometimes we think that if we get that something we've been longing for we'll be happy ever after... and then when we get it we realize we were wrong... part of living a good life is thinking beyond what makes us "instantly" happy :-)

Yes! I agree!

Reflecting upon our choices (in other words, being ethical) might be an alternative to mere "trial and error", don't you think, Silvia and Andrea?

Yohana has recently been discussing what can give us true pleasure... I invite you to read her entry and my comment there, and see if you can find anything in common between your ideas here and her views there!

Stay tuned,

Gladys

Yes, I agree with you. Sometimes we learn through trial and error, but I think it is also another choice to learn.

That it´s true, we cahn be
happy if we just enjoy every day life. A friend of mine wrote in her messenger:"I haven´t got the things I love, but I love the things I have." isn´t it a kind of challenge? I´m trying to do so...

LOL

Well said, Laura! :-) A first step would be to reflect upon what we have, wouldn't it? Then we can start making choices, and finally learn to love what we (can) have...

Fondly,
Gladys
